Music at the Casa presents: Jorge Mendoza and Brittany Pérez

Nights of joy, tears of love, dreams of hope, stories of impossible loves, unforgettable moments- emotions so genuine and compelling that make us all so human. These are marvelous themes touched upon by countless artists and poets in an effort to make a creation bigger than the emotion itself. These works have become priceless artifacts that we all can relate to.

Because of our shared love for music, we’ve  taken the time to personalize these songs in order to bring a fresh feeling of originality while staying true to their essence. Our set includes a variety of instrumental pieces as well as famous hits in both English and Spanish.

“I was born in the city of Las tunas, Cuba. I arrived in the US with 4 years of age. My musical interest began when I visited Cuba and saw my nephew, a professional guitarist playing. I instantly picked up the instrument and fell in love with the world of music. I was introduced to world famous guitarist, Paco de Lucía and thus began my journey to become an accomplished guitarist.” - Jorge Mendoza

“My father was a singer of a band called American brass signed by cbs records in the 70s. Ever since I can remember, every night my parents, sister and I would rehearse and compose songs. I love all types of music but my favorite genres are jazz, Latin music and American oldies. I am inspired by great artists of the past such as Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson. During my performances, I aspire to spark emotion and always bring positivity to my audience.”- Brittany Pérez

We truly hope you enjoy and thanks again for joining us.- Brittany & Jorge

I was born in the city of Las tunas, Cuba. I arrived in the US at 4 years of age. My musical interest began when I visited Cuba again and saw my nephew, a professional guitarist playing. I instantly picked up the instrument and fell in love with the world of music. My nephew introduced me to the world famous guitarist Paco de Lucia, and thus began my journey in flamenco music.

I was primarily self taught excluding 2 lessons that I took with flamenco guitarist Juan Serrano. However, I always kept my heritage present and constantly indulge in Latin music. I seek to bring the best of the both worlds and congregate both Latin music with flamenco music as well hints of jazz and blues.

I began performing at the age of 16 across many restaurants and venues at Disney and between all those gigs, I met other musicians much older who have provided a clear pathway in order to transform my self taught virtues into traditional concepts and methods.

I am currently performing at the the Four Seasons resort every Wednesday and Thursday and occasionally at weddings or private parties. I aim to provide my audience with a glance at my beautiful Cuba while blending the much loved Flamenco style music.

The music on the CD is almost all original material and in a style close to George’s heart: a heady mix of jazz, French “chanson” and the intriguing harmonies of Gypsy Jazz. George and Bohemian Swing have recently played the Toronto International Jazz Festival, as well as countless other festivals and venues in Canada and the U.S.

In June 2012, George had the honor and the privilege to share the stage with jazz guitar legend, Larry Coryell. They performed one of George’s originals “Bohemian Blues” together.

George is currently working on two projects: an album of original jazz ballads and a tribute album to the late great New Orleans soprano saxophonist, Sidney Bechet.
